Bite into an Apple and Give in to Temptation

Ottawa, ON (September 24, 2002)...The Ottawa School of Art Gallery is pleased to present Un baiser excentrique [an eccentric kiss] an in situ creation/installation by Joanne Poitras. Four strips of printed cloth are spread out on the floor to make an eccentric X, a huge kiss. Each print was made by a participant in the in situ creation biting into an apple and using the resulting surface to produce an acrylic print. The kiss is surrounded by more than 3,000 multi-coloured monotypes that fill the empty spaces and form a pathway for the visitor. Un baiser excentrique is a participative work, and the public is invited to contribute to its creation on October 5.

The formal opening is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, and the exhibit continues until October 26. The Gallery is located on the ground floor of the school at 35 George Street in the Byward Market. Admission is free. Gallery hours are Monday to Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
