The Ottawa School of Art presents Instructors II, the second of two annual group exhibitions of work by the School's professional instructors/artists. Continuing a tradition within an institution that dates back to 1879, this exhibition provides an opportunity for the community to witness first-hand the high caliber and wide variety of work and styles that is being produced by many of these instructors. Having a tremendous influence upon Ottawa area culture, these artists are responsible for inspiring and enriching the lives of almost 4,000 students a year - from the novice to the pre-professional to the professional.
"The Ottawa School of Art continues to impress the community with the variety and dedication of instruction offered here," comments Sonia Lismer, Executive Director. "With it's rich history and track record of preparing students for art as a career or as a labour of love, our faculty of over 50 instructors have something to offer to everyone. Instructors Exhibition II demonstrates the wide variety of artistic disciplines offered at the school, including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, animation and new media."
Nineteen artists will be participating in the Instructors II exhibition: Dana Brezina, Audrey Churgin, Dawn Dale, Lucia De Marinis, Kathy Gillis, Adrian Göllner, Rob Hinchley, Renate Hulley, Robert Hyndman, Nan Jiang, Tomoko Kodama, Mark Marsters, Jeannine Robertson, John Sadler, Daniela Sirbu, Gerald Smith, Donna Stainfield, Tavi Weisz and Russell Yuristy.
The vernissage for this exhibition will be held on Thursday, September 13, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. The Ottawa School of Art is located at 35 George Street in the Byward Market. Admission is free.
