It is with much sadness that staff, instructors, and students at the Ottawa School of Art are grieving for the untimely death on January 11, 2002 of our dear friend, artist and teacher extraordinaire, Mark Marsters.

Mark was an instructor at the Ottawa School of Art since 1995, during which time he touched so many students, children, teens and adults alike with his inimitable spirit often inflected with wry humor--a spirit that inspired so many to explore and develop their creativity as individuals.

Mark's way was one of immense strength and devotion to those things that are important in life. Yet, beneath the calm exterior bubbled a sense of mischief just waiting for the perfect moment to emerge, whether in the throes of creation or instruction. The School has been so fortunate to have been graced with his presence and example and, as a result will miss him dearly.
