Leonard Gerbrandt Printmaking Scholarship (1941 - 2010)

Leonard Gerbrandt (1941-2010) taught at the Ottawa School of Art for over 32 years and was responsible for setting up the Printmaking Studio named after him. He encouraged students to enjoy learning and to develop their creative skills. He connected printmakers with an ongoing international print exchange and helped establish local printmaker activities. From 1975-84 and in 1991 he represented the instructors on the Board of Directors of the School.

OSA seeks your support in establishing an annual Memorial Scholarship in Printmaking that will honour Leonard Gerbrandt’s many years as an influential and devoted teacher and passionate printmaker.

Donations will be put towards the Leonard Gerbrandt Printmaking Scholarship, which provides printmaking students in any program of the Ottawa School of Art with the opportunity to further explore their creative abilities in the visual arts.

If you wish to donate to the scholarship fund, simply download the PDF, fill in the appropriate information and email it back to Claudia Gutierrez | This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Orleans Arts Fundamentals Certificate

In 2009, OSA joined forces with the Visual Arts Centre of Orleans. This gave OSA a second campus in addition to its well-established campus in the Byward Market. This new campus located in the heart of Orleans has quickly become a key contributor to Eastern Ottawa’s cultural community by offering a wide variety of courses taught by professional artists in brand new state-of-the-art studios.

This fall, for the first time, the Orleans Campus offers its members yet another means to indulge their artistic streak and to build on their natural talent by offering an Arts Fundamentals Certificate. Certificate students will receive the benefits of a structured course of study designed to provide them with basic visual arts skills in a relaxed atmosphere close to home.

The Arts Fundamentals Certificate is a 10-course non-for-credit self-guided program that provides students with a unique opportunity to develop their skills in a variety of art forms, develop individual expression, and find their own artistic voice. This well-structured program provides students with access to the study of various studio areas including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking and woodworking, and helps them grow as artists by expanding their experience and knowledge, and helping them move beyond their comfort zone. Studying with working professional artists in a studio setting, students will also have the chance to develop and expand their present body of work and build an impressive portfolio.
