Jaime Lee Edmonds - One Night Vernissage at D'Arcy McGee's!

ARTIST STATEMENT

Drawing and painting is my passion. It is my way of expressing all of my emotions. When I paint I am reminded that it is possible to feel joyous and free from the painful, complicated and not so easy things I have experienced in my life. I am at peace and most content when I have a brush or pencil crayon in my hand. I work mainly with acrylic paint and pencil crayons but have also done work in oil pastels, charcoal, and watercolour. When it comes to painting I love the way the paint is distributed onto a canvas and the different shapes, lines and textures I can create. 

The works in this show are a combination of Ottawa landscapes and collages. With the landscape paintings I practiced with different brush stroke techniques and worked with mixing colours to get the different hues. My collages were a fun way to express my feelings whether they be light happy and fun to a darker more serene emotion.
