Karen Bailey traveled to Afghanistan in June 2007 as an appointed military artist with the Canadian Forces Artists Program. At the Role 3 Hospital, Kandahar Airfield, she documented military medical personnel caring for the wounded. Triage is the resulting body of work. Inspired by what she witnessed first hand, Karen’s paintings pay tribute to the dedication of Canadian nurses, doctors and medical technicians as they care for injured Afghan men and children.

TRIAGE : Une artiste à Kandahar

Karen Bailey s’est rendue en Afghanistan en juin 2007 à titre d’artiste de guerre dans le cadre du Programme d’arts des Forces canadiennes. À l’hôpital ROLE 3 de l’aérodrome de Kandahar, elle a témoigné du travail du personnel médical militaire qui soignait les blessés. Les oeuvres de Triage sont le résultat de ce témoignage. Inspirée par tout ce qu’elle a vu sur le terrain, Karen rend hommage au dévouement des infirmiers et infirmières, médecins et techniciens médicaux canadiens, en les immortalisant sur toile.
