This course is for the ultimate beginner. We will explore shading, light and dark value, perspective, still life, drawing portraits from a photo, as well as hands. 002A | DARE TO DRAW WITH COLOUR | INTRO
Oil pastel is rich medium, allowing students to record form through the study of light and shade and colour mixing, and develop personal mark. Oil pastel drawing can also be a bridge to painting. We will mainly work from still life, but also draw from a model, use photographs, and copies of old masters works as inspiration.

002B | COLOUR YOUR WORLD WITH PASTELS | INTRO
This is an introductory chalk pastel class for beginners; however intermediate artists are more than welcome to attend. We will start working with dry medium other than graphite and build towards various techniques in pastel. We will learn about line, lights, darks, tone, value, perspective, composition, and how to paint our world with pastels. You will be surprised at what you can do with chalk!

This course will focus on colour as a structural and design component of drawing. It will delve into the various characteristics and behavioral properties of colour and their relevance to drawing. Exploration will involve creating form, as well as light, by means of colour harmonies and colour contrasts. The incorporation of colour into drawing will be gentle and progressive.

This course is for students interested in developing good drawing skills and knowledge of pictorial space and structure. 004B | HUMAN ANATOMY OF THE DRAWING | INTRO – INTER
A knowledge and understanding of anatomy is essential for artists who are working with the human form, such as painters, sculptors,animators, or illustrators. A good knowledge of bones, muscles, tendons and surface features such skin, hair, eyes, ears, etc. is necessary for drawing the human figure realistically. The use of reference points and their alignments, size proportions, light and shadow, is needed to render the human form with sufficient accuracy. The course is intended to enable students to name and describe what they see; to have an essential knowledge of what is creating the visible surface features of the human body; to recognize and correct errors and omissions in anatomy; and to apply this knowledge in the systematic development of a good human figure drawing. There will be a live model in every session except the first class.
