Students will work on larger format paintings, learning to paint as a physical reaction for the subject and the canvas itself. Creating from a different mental perspective, each brush stroke becomes a physical response to the one before, and the painting itself becomes the muse. Students will work from landscape, architecture and the human form.
In this 2 day workshop students will use the Byward Market as a source for creative printmaking. You will create direct responsive drypoint printing plates out on location in the Market. The prepared plates will then be printed in the OSA printshop as you learn experimental intaglio printing methods. Unique prints will combine the rich effects of drypoint with chine colle, collage, and found materials.
