Are you passionate about visual arts and community engagement? The Ottawa School of Art (OSA) is seeking enthusiastic and community-minded individuals in the Ottawa area to join our volunteer Board of Directors.
As a board member, you’ll help guide the strategic direction of one of Ottawa’s most treasured and historic arts institutions, now in its 147th year. OSA offers accessible art education through in-person and online classes at two campuses: our heritage main campus in the ByWard Market and a second location at the Shenkman Arts Centre in Orléans.
We are prioritizing candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Professional Artist – Individual who can bring their experience, knowledge, and perspective as a local practicing artist to support OSA’s mission and contribute to the ongoing development of the school and its artistic community. This is an opportunity to contribute to the future of art education and the broader visual arts community in Ottawa.
Treasurer – Professional accountant who can provide oversight of OSA’s financial operations and advise on long-term financial strategies. Ability to review and present financial reports prepared by OSA Finance staff, and advise on budget decisions, financial planning, risk management, internal control, and the organization’s funding model as required. The Treasurer is expected to participate in the School’s fiscal year end audit process, review formal audited financial statements and advise the Board on year end financial reporting.
Prior board experience is an asset, but not required. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, especially those who reflect the diversity of our community.
